1 dead in early morning Springfield shooting

One person is dead after a shooting just after 3 a.m. in southeast Springfield.

The shooting happened on Buckeye Street off of Elder Street — near Selma Road, according to the Springfield Police Division. One person was struck by gunfire and died from their injuries.

The incident is under investigation. This story will be updated with new details as they come.
